Warnert Racing’s Adam McGill & Chris Bithell Dominate Snowshoe GNCC.
St. Cloud, MN (6/25/2011) Warnert Racing’s Adam McGill and Chris Bithell topped the pro podium at the Snowshoe round of the 2011 GNCC series with McGill taking top honors after a rueling battle through the treacherous mud and rocks.
The Snowshoe round of the series is known as one of the toughest rounds and it lived up to its reputation with its rocky terrain, mud holes and technical trails, but that didn’t seem to slow down Adam McGill one bit.
Racers left the starting line five at a time at five second intervals, which put Adam McGill in mid pack off the start, but McGill charged hard and soon worked his way into the number four spot. From there McGill picked off Bryan cook in the third lap to take over third and catch up to class leaders Chris Borich and Chris Bithell, who was holding down first. McGill closed in was following closely, waiting for an opportunity and he would get his chance late in the third lap. “We came up to this mud hole and Bithell went one way, Borich went the other around it. I just plowed right through the middle and came out ahead of both of them,” explained McGill.
Once out front, McGill was unstoppable as he charged his way to the checkered flag, finishing with a 14 second lead over second. “It still hasn’t really sunk in that I won. To take a win like that, especially at Snowshoe is a really great feeling. I have to thank the Warnert crew for all
they have done and keeping my quad running great so I could be on top of the box. This was a really tough race and I couldn’t have done it without them,” said McGill, whose second win of the season now has him only seven points off leader Chris Borich and within striking distance of
his first pro GNCC championship.
Chris Bithell was also impressive as he charged off the line with incredible speed to take the early lead in the first lap. Bithell held off a charging Chris Borich for two laps and only fell back to second when McGill made the pass for the lead in lap three. Bithell continued to keep
Borich at bay and would get a little breathing room late in the race when Borich fell back due to a mechanical
failure, allowing Bithell to cruise to second place on the podium. Bithell has been a regular figure on the podium this year and has not finished outside of the top ten so far this season, which has him currently sitting in third place in the pro points chase.
The John Penton round is the last round before going into the summer break and is scheduled for July 9th in Millfield, OH where Adam McGill and Chris Bithell will be going for the top of the podium as they try to dethrone reigning champ Chris Borich and give Warnert Racing its first
pro GNCC championship.
