If you are not able to have it installed by Walsh Race Craft then a welding and fabrication professional is recommended due to the complexity of the lowering kit. Walsh Race Craft cannot guarantee proper fitment and outcome of the kit if it is not installed at Walsh Race Craft.
If you would like to continue using a coolant recovery bottle, the Walsh Race Craft recovery bottle is recommended.
Start by removing the plastics, engine heat shield, fender brackets, gas tank, subframe, radiator, disconnect CDI box.
(1) Bolt front lower gas tank mounts to gas tank.
(2) Bolt front gas tank mounts to frame.
(3) Set 1/8” to 1/4” spacer on top of carburetor to raise rear of gas tank.
(4) With the gas tank in position on the frame, bolt steel brackets to rear of gas tank and weld into position on frame (rear rubber bushings are the same as 2009 front gas tank bushings)
(5) Install radiator brackets (‘U’ shaped brackets) and weld into place.
(6) Remove stock lower radiator brackets from frame (remove brackets as carefully as possible as to re-use the brackets, as well as recommended removal of oil cooler so as to not damage the lines and simplify cutting and welding on 2004-‘5 models)
(7) Bolt front fender brackets to upper radiator bracket and shock tower (similar to stock 2004-‘5 mounts)
(8) Bolt radiator back onto the frame using new upper mounting brackets.
(9) Place old rubber mounted lower radiator tabs on radiator and tack into place.
(10) Remove radiator and finish welding new tabs and mounts into place on frame.
(11) After welding is complete install gas tank, 2009 plastic gas tank cover, front plastics and subframe, as well as grab bar and fender brackets and kick starter.
(12) Trim front lower mounts on plastic gas tank cover to fit into position, as well as front lower fender to clear suspension.
(13) Rear plastics will need to be trimmed to clear kick start area as well as the rear of the rear plastics for the Pro-Pin Seat Receptacles. Rear fender cross strap will also need to be removed to clear air intake boot (mock up all fenders and trim to fit)
(14) Install air intake boot and trim the top of the air box to clear the seat pan. (Walsh Front Seat Post Mounts on subframe will need to be placed in the middle to upper position for proper seat fitment, bottom rear of air box should also be trimmed to clear rear brake caliper)
(15) When plastics are fitted to the frame, tack on the supplied 6mm bungs on frame rail to mount the front of the rear fender to the frame rail in place of the old ‘push in’ rubber mounted heat shield clips, drill fender to secure fenders to frame.
(16) Position and tack the supplied dzues tabs at the rear of the frame to further secure rear plastics to frame around kick starter area on both sides of the quad.
(17) Remove plastics and complete welding of fender mounting tabs.
